The Narrative Behind STORIES Nº.01

"The story of a fragrance wrapped itself around me like a cocoon. It came from nowhere; a divine aroma laced with sharp citrus and the warmth of something woody. It was this aroma I sought to create in my first perfume."

GRASSE

My first foray into fragrance designing led me to global perfume capital, Grasse in the French Riviera, where I learnt my craft in a perfumery, alongside a beautiful Russian Nose (perfumer).

Here in Grasse I experienced a life changing moment, each scent I inhaled illuminating past shadows and marking the first steps of a healing journey towards joyful new beginnings.

HEALING & JOY

For most of my life, I had been unable to access any memories prior to a childhood trauma - and for the first time, I realised the power of fragrance to heal, release and transcend tragedy.

Only fragrance had the power to connect me to long forgotten happy childhood memories, tiptoeing out of the darkness to dance before me in a veil of olfactory goodness.

As I sat surrounded by the tiny brown bottles of the Perfumer’s Organ on the French Riviera, each scent I inhaled illuminated past shadows and marked the start of a healing journey towards joyful new beginnings.

MEMORIES & EMOTION

Following in-depth counselling to remove the root of my trauma, I felt as if all my senses were heightened, particularly my sense of smell. As though experiencing a divine moment, I would be enveloped with a wonderful feeling of peace and hope, appearing in olfactory form.

In those moments, it crossed my mind that if I ever create a fragrance, this is the one I would bottle. This smell became STORIES Nº.01, created by my intuition and totally from memory... hope in a bottle. 

Behind my fragrance collection is the desire to invite people to pause and connect with scent in an emotional way. Our sense of smell is the most powerful of all our senses, connected to our memories through our olfactory system - and fragrance has the power to connect us to our true selves - our past, present and even hopes and dreams for our future.

STORIES Nº.01

STORIES Nº.01 tells the story of renewed hope and joy, sorrow transformed into beauty, darkness yielding to light.

Uplifting citrus notes of Bergamot, Grapefruit & Orange Blossom, reassuring warmth of cedar wood, a delicate touch of Jasmine, Heliotrope and Fig. The mystery of this fragrance is revealed in its blend of Amber, vibrant Sandalwood and hint of Vetiver.  

Described as ‘a window to the past’, Amber is known to add warmth and depth, yet when blended with sandalwood and vetiver, results in a vibrant celebration of light.

STORIES Nº.01 was inspired by my personal journey of healing, discovery and joy. A new beginning; lightness, contentment, vigour and vitality.
