A Sustainable Revolution: How We Pioneer Efforts In Sustainable Luxury

Sustainability has always been at the forefront of STORIES, viewing ourselves as pioneers of the ‘New Niche’, bridging luxury and sustainability together. 

This month, as part of Plastic Free July, a global movement inspired to encourage people to use less plastic, we want to celebrate how we’re minimalist about plastic at STORIES!

We have continuously grown and developed our sustainability initiatives since the brand launched back in 2018. 

As of last year, we re-launched our Hand & Body Collection to eradicate the plastic packaging it came in previously. We worked tirelessly to research and investigate the best way of packaging our Hand & Body Collection in a way that would not only look beautiful but also packaging that would be durable and kind to the environment. Thus, we settled on re-launching the products with our innovative, sustainable aluminium packaging. We then took it one step further and removed the plastic pumps in our 500ml STORIES Lotion & Wash bottles, replacing them with stainless steel pumps, giving ultimate durability whilst also ensuring it is a recyclable material.

We have won countless awards for our sustainability initiatives over the years; having been recognised by Marie Claire UK Sustainability Awards in 2021, 2022 and 2023 as well as being awarded a highly commended award for Best Sustainable Fragrance Brand. With that being said, let’s explore the sustainable initiatives that have brought us to the forefront of sustainability in the fragrance industry.

REFILLABLE GLASS BOTTLES

All of our perfume bottles are glass meaning they can be reused, refilled and recycled. We offer a return to refill service or you can be supplied with a pipette to refill your perfume at home. Find our refill service here. 

ZAMAK BOTTLE CAPS

Our Eau de Parfum caps are made from Zamak, a 100% recyclable, heavy-touch, luxurious material that is a family of zinc alloys with varying proportions of Aluminium, magnesium and copper. This highly resistant alloy is 100% infinitely reusable and does not lose any properties during the recycling process. 

ROCK PAPER LABELS

Our fragrance labels are made with matt white calcium carbonate derived from 80% marble mining waste together with recycled 20% HDPE - in keeping with the conventional recycling stream. Unlike wood paper, our rock paper labels don't have a grain, but a silky smooth finish. We do not put plastic cellophane over any of our perfume labels.

FSC CERTIFIED PAPER BOXES

All of our boxes are designed to be repurposed, made from certified FSC paper. This ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

REFILLABLE GLASS CANDLE JARS

Our glass candle jars are endlessly recyclable, providing endless options for reusing and repurposing. We provide candle refills for continuous reuse, which you can find here.

PLASTIC FREE DELIVERY PACKAGING

We only use sustainable materials when packaging up delivery orders. From the cardboard box and tape that goes around the outside to the tissue paper and protective packing material on the inside, every bit of our online order parcels is recyclable.

Our sustainability ethos infiltrates throughout our brand, with every detail being considered. We endeavour to continue proactively reducing our carbon footprint going forward and can’t wait to see what the future brings with new sustainable innovations.
